Team coaching is the future

Companies consist of teams, and for the company to thrive, the team needs to work well as a unit - inwards, but also outwards - in the company system. Instead of as traditionally only coaching the leader and hope that they will affect the team to perform greatly, we coach the team as such. The goal is to help the team become more value creating, in the way that suits them team, makes them passionate and also makes the team members feel good.

A good foundation is many times to start with the Peter Hawkins' model 5 disciplines for high value creating teams and figure out where we are in the following areas:

  1. Do we have a shared and compelling purpose?

  2. What are we here to do?

  3. How will we do it?

  4. How do we interact with, and engage our stake holders as a team?

  5. How do we make sure that we continue learning all the time?

In a process like this we ,might also work with other things, like creating a psychologically safe environment and to help the team see itself as a system, so that the coaches later can leave the team without interrupting the process.

"Not finance. Not strategy. Not technology. It is teamwork that remains the ultimate competitive advantage, both because it is so powerful and so rare."
Patrick Lencioni quoted in Hawkins 2021
